Introduction


For many businesses, tax number cancellation can create serious operational problems. Without a valid tax number, a company cannot issue invoices or conduct business activities. However, in many cases a cancelled tax number can be restored.


When can a tax number be restored?


A tax number may be restored if the company eliminates the reasons that led to the cancellation.

This may include:

  • submitting missing tax returns

  • publishing financial statements

  • correcting the registered office address

  • complying with official notices from the tax authority


Appealing against tax number cancellation


An appeal against the cancellation decision can generally be submitted within 15 days after the decision is delivered.

During the appeal process it is important to:

  • examine whether the cancellation was lawful

  • fulfil the missing obligations

  • submit the necessary requests to the tax authority


Why acting quickly is important


The sooner the missing obligations are fulfilled, the higher the chances that the tax authority will restore the company’s tax number.
